| The importance of window wells
A window well is a retaining structure which
acts as a guard and helps drain the water that may penetrate by
the basement windows. To avoid such risks, there should be a clearance
of at least 8 to 10 inches between the bottom of the window and
the ground.
When installing a window well, it must be wide
and deep enough to ensure good drainage but also to ensure adequate
space in the event that the window becomes an emergency exit.
